iOS 15 is the fifteenth major release of the iOS mobile operating system developed by Apple Inc. It was announced at the Worldwide Developers Conference on June 7, 2021, alongside iPadOS 15, watchOS 8, tvOS 15, and macOS Monterey, and was released on September 20, 2021.

iOS 15 includes a number of new features and improvements, including:

  • A redesigned Messages app with new features like Live Text and SharePlay

  • A new Maps app with new features like AR walking directions and Look Around
  • A new Weather app with new features like weather alerts and more accurate forecasts
  • A new Privacy & Security section in Settings with new features like App Privacy Report and Camera & Microphone indicators
  • New accessibility features, including Live Captions and ProMotion support for VoiceOver

iOS 15 is a major update with a number of new features and improvements. If you are using an older version of iOS, I recommend upgrading to iOS 15.

Here are some of the new features in iOS 15 in more detail:

  • Messages: The Messages app has been redesigned with a new look and feel. There are new features like Live Text, which allows you to copy and paste text from photos and videos in Messages. You can also use SharePlay to watch videos, listen to music, or play games with other people in Messages.
  • Focus: Focus is a new feature that allows you to filter out distractions and focus on the task at hand. You can create custom Focus modes for different situations, such as Work, Sleep, or Personal. When you’re in a Focus mode, only notifications from the apps and people you choose will be allowed through.
  • Maps: The Maps app has been updated with a new look and feel. There are new features like AR walking directions, which allows you to see directions in augmented reality. You can also use Look Around to explore a location in 360 degrees before you visit.
  • Weather: The Weather app has been updated with a new look and feel. There are new features like weather alerts, which will notify you of upcoming weather events. You can also see more accurate forecasts with the addition of new weather models.
  • Privacy & Security: The Privacy & Security section in Settings has been updated with new features. App Privacy Report shows you how apps have used your data in the past week. Camera & Microphone indicators let you know when apps are using your camera or microphone.
  • Accessibility: iOS 15 includes a number of new accessibility features. Live Captions automatically transcribes audio into text, so you can see what’s being said in a video or phone call. ProMotion support for VoiceOver makes it easier to use VoiceOver on devices with ProMotion displays.

These are just a few of the new features in iOS 15. If you are using an older version of iOS, I recommend upgrading to iOS 15.
